Who are we?

Hi, my name is Dawn (42) and after 24 years service in the British Army I've made the decision to take retirement. I am married to Shaun (46) who was also in the British Army for 24 years; he now works in the Motorsports Industry. Our other travelling companion is our 3 year old English Springer Spaniel called Jäger. We all lived in a market town called Guisborough situated just off the North Yorkshire Moors. Our passion is the outdoor lifestyle, mountain biking, climbing, snowboarding for him and skiing for me, paragliding and walking. We also like to travel.

Why are we going traveling?

Why not? After a combined military service of 48 years, we deserve a break. Having traveled extensively in Europe, albeit working or short holidays, we want to explore further and not have to worry about time constraints. How many times have we all returned from holiday wishing we were still there? Well this is our holiday of a lifetime. We are setting off at the end of February 14, for a few weeks of skiing and snowboarding in the Alps, then we are hoping to head down for some winter sun to Portugal to do some paragliding and mountain biking. Heading back to the Alps for the summer, to do some exploring, wine and food tasting, just living the dream.

  • Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. - Mary Ritter Beard
  • We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. - Hilaire Belloc
  • I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.- Robert Louis Stevenson
  • The traveler was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes 'sight-seeing. - Daniel J. Boorstin
