Monsaraz – Portugal
Posted on October 16, 2014
Monsaraz was recommended to us by various people we had met during our travels around Portgal, so we decided to go and take a look for ourselves.
There is a free Aire here on different terraces, all with fantastic views over the surrounding lakes. We stayed on the top terrace that had a quite steep entrance to it, it could be quite tricky in wet weather as the road is cobbled.
We parked up and decided to take the 5 min walk into the village. We could not believe how clean the place was, all the cottages were painted bright white.
During our exploration of the village we found the village had its very own bullring right in the middle of the castle walls. It was amazing.
Walking Jäger off the lead we found a bit tricky as all the land around the village was fenced off and there were no amenities close by. We would recommend a stay for the night but we would not want to stay much longer.
