We Are Back On The Road Again.

Shaun is back after his epic journey to Moscow.  Jäger and I have said our good byes to our new friends, the beach and we have set off on our travels again!!! We are heading towards the South of France 1200 miles away we have to be there by Fri 2 May so Shaun can start his Paragliding course.  We will be located in a campsite there for the whole of May .  This will be good for me as it gives me a base for me to have my candle melts supplies sent out to and I will be able to re-open BB’s Mobile Beauty Salon!!! I am also hoping I will be able to get back into mine and Jäger’s morning running routine.  We will have to see how it goes as its supposed to be quite hilly and I am really not made for hills as the guys at D Pers Admin can vouch!!! What will be will be!!

Are We There Yet Daddy

We managed to do 360 miles of driving today, until jäger nicely told us he couldn’t take any more travelling for today mammy and daddy.  So we looked for some where to pull in for the night.  How lucky were we having stumbled over this campsite advertised by a sign on the side of the road.

It is called Camping Alto De Vinuelas at Beas de Granada.  Which is 18Km from Granada and in the Sierra Nevada national park.

There are 50 pitches on site all with electric hook ups.  It cost us €16 (£13.28) a night with our ACSI discount card.  It should have normally been €24 (£19.92) per night.  As well as the very clean shower block there is a swimming pool on site and a restaurant.
Shaun took jäger and I for a MTB ride around tea time in the hope it would start to cool down by then. The start of the ride was down a loose gravelled track that led to a river bed. Then the trail weaves it’s way through the bottom of the valley closely hugging the river.  I really enjoyed this part of the ride but there were sections that were quite technical due to the boulders.  Then started a whole lot of pain!!!! One mighty climb out of the valley.  I was not a happy chappy!!! In total we climbed a distance of 2000ft.  I made it to the top with a lot of huffing and puffing and a bit of pushing. As well as some crying out to Shaun who was in front of me with Jäger,  “I cannot peddle anymore or even feel my legs” and Shaun shouting back down to me, “man up and that I was doing great, I just needed to keep going”.   I don’t mind telling you I was shattered and what kept me going to the top was thinking about a nice chilled Malibu and coke waiting for me back at the van.

We decided to stay at the campsite in the end for 3 nights.  This gave me  some time to recover from my epic MTB climb as well as give Shaun time to go out on his MTB for a good blast and explore more extreme routes!!

We really liked this site it is in such a good location to MTB, walk, paraglide and climb we are thinking about coming back in September and spending a few weeks here exploring.  There is even a bus stop right outside the gate that takes you to Granada a city we have been told that is well worth a visit.

We are back on the road again now hoping to clock up another 300+ miles.  I wonder where we will be sleeping tonight????
